That F&T song reminds of a time as a kid, sitting in a local KFC waiting with Mom to get a bucket of chicken and the in house Muzak system playing along, muffled as it were, with beautiful music. Sort of odd to hear this sort of thing in a KFC, but keep in mind this was in 1980 and sitting in KFC waiting for your order to come up was a typical thing.
Sort of like waiting in Captain D's for a family pack. Sometimes it would take 20 to 25 minutes for the order to be ready. And you wait, with the Muzak blaring ahead with a chintzy cover of 'If' done by the James Last Orchestra (or something to that effect)
Or sitting in the car in the parking lot of what was then one of two Kroger stores in the area, listening to WZEZ EZ 93 (now WJXA 'Mix 92.9') and marveling how stereophonic 'Close To You' by The Carpenters was (still is, of course).
Or hanging with an old college buddy at his apartment, which was located across from a nursing home and tuning into it's Part 15 FM station which relayed a music service called 'Potpourri', again playing beautiful instrumentals with an unobtrusive announcer saying, "This is Potpourri" every two or three songs.
With the passage of the Local Community Radio Act, there may be a chance to apply for a LPFM frequency in my town. If this ever came to fruition, I'd love to run EZ/BI music 24/7 on this station.
Probably not all too practical, eh?
Maybe 23/7?
